Paul Zorner is CEO of Locus Agricultural Solutions (Locus AG) and Adjunct Professor of Horticulture at North Carolina State University, where he has been a member of the graduate faculty for over 32 years. He is an Associate Editor for Industrial Biotechnology, an elected Fellow of the Weed Science Society of America and a member of the Environmental Entrepreneurs (E2). He has done extensive environmental advocacy at National and State levels, most recently helping to get agricultural soil health in the 2018 Farm Bill.
Additionally, Paul has extensive international experience and has served in a variety of research, operating and administrative positions with large agribusiness companies and venture backed startups. He is an inventor on over 35 issued US patents. Paul has dedicated his career to the goals of increasing agricultural crop productivity, improving the nutritional content of food and advocating for regenerative agricultural systems which increase the economic stability of rural communities. In 2006, he was the first American citizen to be named a Queensland Champion by the Queensland, Australia Government for his contributions to the agriculture and biotechnology industries.
His current work at Locus AG is focused on deploying agricultural microbes to improve crop productivity, increasing soil health and accelerating the ability of agricultural soils to sequester atmospheric carbon.
Paul received his undergraduate degree in biology from Lewis and Clark College in Portland, Oregon and a Ph.D. in Botany and Plant Pathology from Colorado State University where he worked on development of cropping systems for dry-land agriculture. He is currently based in San Diego, CA.
