Bioeconomic Catalysts: Federal Initiatives and the 2018 Farm Bill

This session will provide “view from the top” of the federal activities and initiatives that will serve as catalyst for advances within the Bioeconomy and deployment of bioenergy projects. Topics of discussion will include; the Biomass Research and Development (BR&D) Board Framework and Bioeconomy Implementation Strategy, 2018 Farm Bill Overview (major changes), Interagency Report on Rural Prosperity and Agriculture as well as USDA and DOE programmatic updates. The information will expand on Bioeconomy targeted programs and tools which can leverage resources. This session will outline the federal “blueprint” for the Bioeconomy, provide applicable information to support the advancement and sustainability of the industry, and promote economic development for agriculture and rural communities.

This session will be conducted in panel format, which will facilitate engagement and interaction among panelist and the audience. There will be a question and answer session where the audience will have the opportunity to address specific panelist and/ or the entire panel. The panel will consist of a moderator and speakers and will be comprised of representatives from USDA and DOE, as well as a representative from the Biomass Research and Development (BR&D) Board Operations Committee.
