  • Asa Oudes, Benchling

We're at the start of a biotech revolution comparable to the rise of the computer in the '70s and '80s, and even to the industrial revolution. Biotech promises to revolutionize not only pharmaceuticals but also agriculture, food, materials, and energy. That said, biotech faces some key impediments: tools ill-suited for modern science, systems that lock away key R&D insights, and underdeveloped processes. Compared to many previous paradigm shifts, biotech R&D is distinguished by the incredible quantity and complexity of its data. This poses challenges but also opens up opportunities to accelerate the industrialization of biotech.

Asa will discuss how Benchling is working with leading industrial and agricultural biotechnology organizations to manage this transformational shift. Asa will discuss in-depth the fundamental hurdles that the biotech industry must overcome, as well as how modern approaches to data management and collaboration can address these concerns.
