There are many processes for converting biomasses such as corn stover and wheat straw to end products. 2nd generation processes extract one primary component at high quality and a second component in a mixture or at low quality. There are also processes for converting the biomass to fuel. Annikki has a different approach. Annikki’s 3rd generation pulping extracts the lignin, hemicellulose and cellulose all as high-quality and highly pure products.

The lignin is highly reactive and virtually sugar-free. The quality of lignin produced from this process is not available from existing processes. The cellulose is high quality and can be used as is or further enhanced to chemical grade. The hemicellulose is converted enzymatically in the biorefinery to xylitol and arabonic acid. A biorefinery must be both environmentally and economically feasible to be considered sustainable. These high value-products and a modest operating cost achieve that goal.
