Connecting the Sustainable Materials Value Chain

  • Paul Bloom, ADM,
  • Luca Zullo, Greenyug,
  • Juan Velasquez, Procter & Gamble

Advances in catalysis and bio-transformations have enabled new sustainable technologies to make the materials on which the world relies. Many companies have contributed to the technology development, but each individually is often limited in ability to realize the potential of the innovations. Large investments in plants, resources, and expertise can be difficult for a large company to justify and are often out of reach for smaller entities. The risks are even greater when the target is an existing commodity material or application. The session will explore examples of successful strategies ranging from over-the-fence partnerships to highly integrated joint development efforts to connect the sustainable materials value chain. The talks and panel discussion will focus on specific examples of sustainable technology platforms targeted to commodity applications and how partnerships are essential to success.
